Fastner Black Book

July 14, 2017 By: Joe Sieben, Popcorn Man (Keperra, Australia)

Comments
Perfect companion - pretty much better than Google searches, more accurate and trustworthy too.

Pros
Consistant layout makes it easy to find the information you need, quickly. It is all there for what we use it for.

Cons
After finding the right fastner in the book, it can sometimes be tricky to find the actual fastner at the local fastner supplier.

Great handy little book. Has every bit of information you could imagine for nuts and bolts.

Cons
The spiral binding is a bit hard to get the book closed at times.

Fastener Black Book

Comments
Handy book, decent format.

Pros
Page composition better than plain paper. Good content volume.

Cons
Would be better with section tabs (like Electrical Black Book has). Thread gage would be better with fine threads actually cut instead of simply pictured.

Saves you from going NUTS!!

February 28, 2017 By: Michael Troth , Lion Industries - Design & Construction (Lavington , Australia)

Comments
More time engineering, less time in the phone or wading through 10 manuals. I use it and I trust it!

Pros
Lets everyone be self reliant and confident in their work - all the specs are right there in their (our) greasy hands!

Cons
Would have liked some quantitative date on thread sealing, adhesives and anti-seizing compounds.

Excellent resource

What a terrific resource, so much helpful information. I received this as a gift and it is great, looking forward to getting more in the series. Only downside is the small print, my eyesight isn't what it used to be.

Pros
Incredible detail and useful information, quality and durability of the pages and the thread pitch identification gage is a great tool.

Cons
Small print

Fastener Black Book

January 30, 2017 By: Dave Fleckenstein (Nacogdoches , United States)

Great Book

Pros
Nicely formatted data

Cons
Need this exact book in a larger page size, such as 8 1/2 x 11. My eyes are getting too old to read small print even with glasses. Enlarging the pages would help a lot. Having it in a 3 ring loose leaf binder format I can use at my deask would be perfect.

Excellent book

I was given the Fastener Black Book as a present. It is a fantastic resource with a wealth of information on fasteners, materials and standards, I can thoroughly recommend it. I'm now going to buy the Engineers Black Book as well.

Pros
Concise and useful information well presented.

Cons
None so far.

Black Book Fastener and engineering

January 2, 2017 By: Ernie Noa, -- (Monticello, United States)

Comments
I have both the Fastener and the engineers Black book Code GRA388 and 394TWN. Both are great additions to my work shop. I like the size and the general layout. I was surprised to see information about BA fasteners as this seems to be left out of most US publications. The only thing I did not see was a Dividing head chart for a 60:1 gear ratio. It may be that my diving head is just not normal. Also I like the metal gauges that are included in both books. I would love to have the drill taping chart that is noted at the end of the fastener book. Thanks for publishing these. I will be sure to mention them in a newsletter I do for the Mid-West G1MRA group.

Pros
Nice size, Metal gauge

Cons
The only thing I did not see was a Dividing head chart for a 60:1 gear ratio

Great detail

November 26, 2016 By: Dan P (Bedford, United States)

Comments
All the detail of the Machinery's Handbook, in a perfect sized reference

Pros
Bindings let the book lay flat, without pages flipping on their own. Thread gage is laid out well.

Cons
Gage isn't stamped for the finest thread pitches.
