Quality in a Convenient Form-factor

August 16, 2018 By: Joshua Earp (Burlington, United States)

Comments
Contains about as much information on fasteners as one could hope to cram into a single pocket. Collects a lot of information on various fasteners, and saves me a significant amount of time hunting down the information (as well as pictures so I can show my techs what they're looking for).

Pros
Easily portable, includes a reasonably useful thread pitch identification gauge, includes references to relevant standards as well as descriptions in layman's terms

Cons
Not a great reference for aerospace work since it doesn't pull information from military specs and other similar sources used in that field. Granted, there isn't any room to squeeze that in. Information on mil spec fasteners and various aerospace and military spec treatments and manufacturing techniques could probably fill an entire black book by itself, though.

Fastener Black Book

February 7, 2018 By: Brady, Surge Custom Fabrication Studio (California, United States)

Comments
incredibly full of valuable information regarding fasteners SAE as well as Metric.

Pros
Hard to remember is easy to find in this book

Cons
Book is small enough to fit in my back pocket, which may be a pro for most however its a con for me as it is surely going to become a destroyed mess in no time from sitting on it and pulling it out from my pocket so much. i should have bought 2-3.

Excellent book with lots of information

Black book review

December 18, 2017 By: Must have, Retired auto engineer (Bay Village, Australia)

Comments
Should have had this 60 years ago

Pros
Very wide range materials and sizes covering most engineers requirements.

Cons
Because of my age the print is too small on some pages but because of the restraints of publishing to produce a compact publication I understand this.
